The days of coffee mugs and fancy pens imprinted with company logos are now long gone!
We wouldn’t be in business if it wasn’t for our amazing clients and candidates, and we’ve found how important it is to say THANK YOU with a small token of appreciation from time to time. After all, Damia is all about building and preserving relationships, and what better way to demonstrate how much we value our relationship than with some surprise gifts or just interesting communication.

This article is a collection of the best ideas we’ve had over the past 4 years at Damia Portugal. Christmas sales actions, birthdays, surveys… or just because I felt like it!
Remember to thank your clients!
Give them a gift they won’t forget and show them how important their business and relationship is to you.
In my opinion sales actions aren’t just a kind gesture we should complete at the end of each year — have you ever sent that typical Christmas hamper with ham, wine, and cheese? Instead send them something that creates a great reaction…some POW! WOW! HAHA! We want to stand out, we want to be unique!
Taking the time to find the best idea and think outside-the-box not only shows we care, but it can also be a strategic business move. Of course, as a marketing professional, Damia’s best interest is my top priority and any sales actions could possibly generate more business or future referrals.

1. All I want for Christmas
This was our first sales action! I started working at Damia on December 2nd 2017 and when I joined, I already had an idea in mind of something different and innovative for our clients at Christmas. Aware of the small budget (we had only been operating for 3 months) I had to create something fast and easy.
At Christmas time, most companies decorate a tree for their office (at least in Portugal they do). The question was: How does Damia get involved in this activity?
The result: A Christmas tree bauble with what we considered to be the worst version of a CV a tech recruitment agency could come up with inside.
2. YES! You nailed it!
Most of our inboxes are flooded with automated email newsletters. We thought of something a little more unique for our business communication. Our goal is to create a friendlier, less formal environment where people can feel appreciated.

3. Conference bags must breed in the dark.
At Damia we had the privilege of being a part of the first Remote work conference in Lisbon. Every time we go to a business event, we usually leave with a swag bag filled with flyers and things which end up being thrown away.
A conference event swag bag should be more than a hole with handles. We wanted to include something in the bag which would make sure people remembered us!
As it was a 3 day conference about working remotely and we are a tech recruitment agency — the image below speaks for itself.
4. Talk, Pizza and chill.
For the past two years we have been the official recruitment sponsor for the Canopy Community Lisbon talks #demonights! Before the pandemic when the events all moved online, we were the best sponsor…WE SPONSOR THE PIZZA at the end of the night!
Who doesn’t love to end a Tuesday night after work eating pizza slices?
We were looking for a new way to connect with our partners and since we’re Portuguese, what better way to bond than over food! At Damia we don’t like to just give anything, we added some gifts people could take home! Bring some leftovers home.
5 & 6. We just popped up to wish you a happy Holiday.
We know you must be tired of receiving business gifts destined for the dusty corners of desks and closets.
Just skip the tired corporate gifts and surprise people with elevated, thoughtful, and useful options…like food!!!!
We went the extra mile by creating and customizing these gifts by hand. Whether or not your company is working from home, it’s our hope that with these gifts we allow people to stay connected, smile or laugh when opening them.
7. Drink up
Does there need to be a reason for a special gift for you to celebrate the start of the summer season?!
Who doesn’t love the summertime? A time to kick back and relax, enjoy the nice weather, spend long evenings on the beach and (for lot of us) the annual summer holiday.
While everyone is busy with planning vacations and booking flights, we wanted to make sure Damia was at the top of their mind!
Give them a gift they can definitely enjoy on vacation!

Toiler paper - Even better than wine in 2020 🧻
The panic-buying of bathroom wipes continued throughout the first, second and third (depending on who you ask) waves of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The internet was flooded with memes and jokes about toilet-tissue scarcity. After a rough year for most of us, we wanted to give a gift to our clients and partners that would help to lighten the mood and cause a smile.

What did you think about these ideas?
When we look at the most recognized brands, like Coca-cola or Apple, one of the things they all have in common is the consistency of their branding. The more consistent a brand becomes, the more prominent and recognizable it is with the consumer.
Damia’s communication seeks to pass on our values and culture. We want to build a memorable brand in the market.
