The recruiting and sourcing universe is experiencing quite a shake-up!

AI is hijacking the spotlight, promising to be our knight in shining armor, rescuing us from the quest for the best talent, and liberating us from the clutches of mind-numbing tasks.

Who knew we’d be living in a world where even LinkedIn is put on the cape of artificial intelligence? LinkedIn, the superhero of professional networking, is now trying its hand at the AI game.

But let’s be real, it is not as interesting as ChatGPT or similar. In my humble opinion, not quite, but time will be the ultimate judge of its competence in this topic.

As the saying goes,

“What works well today may not even work tomorrow”

So, let’s roll the dice, experiment, and watch these platforms evolve 📈

Now, onto the essentials of our tips, where we kick off with the LinkedIn Basic Search.

Armed with a search bar, you can unleash the power of Boolean searches, hunt for specific tools, and filter by location, university, keywords, languages…and others, it’s your daily sourcing playground.

But hey, is it all sunshine and rainbows? Imagine you’re on the hunt for a React Developer in Portugal, et voilá, you get a list of thousands of candidates without context and completely arbitrary. How do you navigate in this search safari?

Fear not, my friend!

Unleash all the filters, cherry-pick specific companies — maybe you’re on the lookout for profiles confidently sailing in the wild sea of Startups, the trenches of Software Houses, or potential consultancies? Throw that into your search mix. Need candidates with a Computer Science degree? Slap it on there!

Here’s a nifty trick — in your search bar, you can use this as an example:(title: Frontend) AND (skill: React) AND (summary: AWS).

This string will give you results more accurately with candidates that have:

👉🏻 Frontend in the title;

👉🏻 React as a skill;

👉🏻 AWS in the summary — Why introduce a summary here? Because a lot of developers share their interests, a summary of their experience, or even a description of the current project. Introducing a summary in the Boolean will likely drive you to more candidates with the right fit for our role.

To wrap up this rollercoaster ride through the LinkedIn search bar, tweak your search parameters for that extra point, and assess through the latest results.

You might stumble upon profiles with fewer views or connections — LinkedIn’s way of saying they’re the unknown. Take a chance on them; you might just uncover the hidden species, the Messi or Ronaldo of the development world. Who wouldn’t want to discover the prodigy playing in the shadows?
