There are countless tools that will help you optimize your time and help you to be a much more effective recruiter? 🤯 possible efficiency per hour, with the tools they use daily.
As experts in tech recruitment, we know that being a recruiter is difficult! In fact, in this IT industry we need to be creative and act like an entrepreneur, constantly thinking outside the box on how to find and attract the right candidates.
This article has been written following a great workshop, presented by Cláudio Menezes and Inês Silvestre from Damia Group Portugal, in partnership with Recruit Better Community.
The two “Damians” scoured the internet to find the best tools, to enable you to speed up your work tasks and using half the effort! We accept that technology will only take you so far and ultimately, you are responsible for your own productivity!
Here are the tools we talked about.
The recruitment process entails writing a great job spec, finding qualified candidates, and adding them to the team! It sounds simple however, it is a lot of work to make the whole process seamless. Great effort and time is put into each step, all to narrow it down to a few hired candidates.
I have been working in IT Recruitment since 2018 and during this time, I have faced lots of challenges. We all know about the difficult job profiles that we are asked to search for and the multiple tasks we do daily which consumes our time. For a while, I only worked with LinkedIn Recruiter, which as we all know is a great tool and very important in our work, however we also know it has its own limitations. In my current organization, I was presented with a new world of tools that make my job much more efficient; therefore, my main goal in this article is to give you some tips that will make you more effective! Whilst not every business needs the same tools or automation levels, there is something in this list for everyone.
First step: Data Gathering — It’s time to gather information from different types of sources! As we all know, it is important to access as much information as we can in order to discover what we want.
Perhaps the tool that we all use on a daily basis! LinkedIn Recruiter is a talent search tool that help us, recruiters, find and engage with different candidates that meet our sourcing requirements. You can personalize your search by technologies, location, years of experience, among others. Most importantly, you can message anyone even if they are not in your network.
#2 Google sheets
This is a great way to create and edit spreadsheets on your browser! You can share it with other people who can also edit the information. With Google Sheets, you can have all your information organized online (no special software is required) but also share this information with your team members; every change made is updated automatically and you can see others changes in real time!

The first part is the simple process of correcting, treating or even deleting (if necessary) the results that are not relevant for you. On the second part — tracking — we need to read and review our data, to ensure the quality of the information.
Even if you have been a Recruiter for years or you’re only starting now, Multi-highlight is a great extension that you should add into your Chrome ASAP. It highlights all the words that you choose, therefore when you’re searching for some profile, for example, you can choose the keywords, so every time those words appear, they will be highlighted with different colours, all standing out.
#4 Bulk URL Opener
If you have a large list of links and you need to see them all, well, this is the tool that you’re looking for! With Bulk URL Opener you can load multiple URLs at once in different tabs or windows, you can also choose how many you want to open at any one time. Clearly, with this tool, you can save time and effort, and be more efficient.
A great platform that allows you to complete and automate many tasks and manage your entire lifecycle. Among the many utilities that this platform offers, you can, for example, track candidates, find more candidates (they have a large database), rank your pipeline by best match, verify contacts, to name but a few options amongst so many more!
This offers you several tools to automate and grow your business. You can use it to extract data from the web, automate any action on the web, you can schedule workflows… You have many options to use it with LinkedIn, for example, automatically send personalized messages for your LinkedIn connections.
Our last step will be enriching your Data! Even if you already have your database completed, there is always more information that you can aggregate. And for that, you have great tools and extensions that you can use which will, for sure, save you some time when you are, for example, looking for a candidate’s contact.

With Skrapp.io, Adapt, Nymeria, Contact Out, you can find different ways to contact the candidates, like their emails, phone numbers and even collate a GitHub ID. When you’re looking a GitHub profile, you can use GitHub Email to find the profile contact.

A great way to aggregate in the same location as your Instant Messaging Communications (Slack, Whatsapp, Facebook, Telegram…)
If you are using the same email regularly, why not just save it as a signature? So, the next time you need it is already ready to be sent;
An extension for auto loading paginated web pages;
If you have just started as an IT Recruiter, this extension will be your best friend! It highlights technical terms presented in the web page, but it also gives you short definitions for the tech terms listed.
